Change of venue for Palestine meeting

Statement by the Silent Vigil for Gaza:

We have had to make a last-minute change to the venue for our public meeting on 29 September. It will now be held at the Old Meeting Unitarian Chapel, Sidmouth EX10 8BR, at 6.30.

Seaton Methodist Church agreed two months ago to host the meeting, and their elders’ late decision to cancel the booking put us in a very difficult position. We are very disappointed that they have not upheld the national Methodist support for justice in the Middle East, or even elementary freedom of speech.

Because we already had similar experiences with two other Seaton venues, which agreed in principle to host the meeting and then changed their minds, and because we haven’t been able to find another Seaton venue at short notice, we have decided to gratefully accept the offer of the venue in Sidmouth.

We have begun discussions for a new meeting in Seaton at a later date, and the Vigil will continue to be held in Thury Harcourt Place every Saturday at 11. See you in Sidmouth on the 29th – please spread the word!
