Claire Wright vindicated by Swire’s wife’s diaries: “Hugo launches a campaign to save a local hospital for no other reason than to annoy an independent candidate in his constituency who’s been getting on his nerves”

Proof that:

  1. The Tories don’t really care about our community hospitals.
  2. Voting against the Tories is the only way to get them to support local communities.
  3. Claire Wright is a real star!

Dear Martin, 1. A good act, whatever the motivation, remains a good act. We all have mixed motivations for so much that we do. 2. You might be right in your three claims, but one MP’s motivations and actions do not in any way “prove” them to be so. This is not good thinking and you know that. 3. Claire Wright is a real star but maybe we only see her brightness relative to the dullness all around her. Karen

The ends do NOT justify the means. A good act may be good for some people, but it shows the Tory MP that he can be spiteful, petty and vengeful and that it works. That is NOT the life lesson we want people to learn, is it?

I wonder what Swire’s motivation was for SS to write of him being sad that it was Tobias Elwood and not he who went to the aid of the stabbed police officer at Westminster. Does the diary enlighten us at all? (Kindle 4208)
